The European long-distance path E3 is part of the European hiking trail network and runs from the Black Sea to the Iberian Peninsula.

The route through Saxon Switzerland connects at Bad Gottleuba to the route coming from the Eastern Ore Mountains. Via the Gottleuba Dam, the Bielatal, Königstein Fortress, Lilienstein, Hohnstein, Schrammsteine, Großer Winterberg up to the border with the Czech Republic in the Bad Schandau district of Schmilka.

The section from Geising to Bad Gottleuba, which still runs in the Eastern Ore Mountains, is also included in this route.
