The Würschnitz Valley cycle path starts at the Neuwürschnitz forest baths and ends at the Klaffenbach moated castle. It connects the towns and municipalities of Chemnitz, Neukirchen, Jahnsdorf, Niederdorf, Niederwürschnitz and Oelsnitz. The cycle path is signposted throughout and is family-friendly with its sights and refreshment stops. The Würschnitz Valley cycle path can also be ridden as a circular tour: cycle from Klaffenbach moated castle along the iron path towards Brünlos. From Stollberg / Brünlos, take cycle route 6 to the "Alte Ziegelei" recreational area, where you rejoin the Würschnitz Cycle Path and cover the last few kilometers of the tour on the familiar route.
Wide fields, tranquil villages, gentle climbs and often with views of the ridges of the Ore Mountains are the advantages of the tour through the Würschnitz Valley. It connects the communities of Neukirchen, Jahnsdorf, Nie-derdorf and Niederwürschnitz with the towns of Oelsnitz and Lugau. The Würschnitz Valley cycle path starts at the Neuwürschnitz forest baths and leads to Klaffenbach moated castle on the outskirts of Chemnitz. The well-signposted cycle path is family-friendly with its sights and refreshment stops. You should plan a longer break at the "Alte Ziegelei" leisure area to take a ride on the light railroad through the grounds (on Sundays and public holidays and during festivals) and enjoy a snack. As you continue through the Steegenwald forest, on some days you can hear the sound of engines from the air and see historic machines circling, as you soon reach Jahnsdorf with its airfield. You cycle a few more kilometers to the moated castle of Klaffenbach, which combines several facilities under one roof. Culture, art, sport and hospitality can all be found within the historic walls and form a diverse offering. The Würschnitz Valley cycle path can also be used for a relaxed return journey.
If you prefer something a little more challenging, we recommend the circular tour along the Iron Trail. To do this, cycle from Klaffenbach moated castle along the Eisenweg in the direction of Brünlos. From Stollberg / Brünlos, take cycle route 6 to the "Alte Ziegelei" leisure area, where you will rejoin the Würschnitzradweg and cover the last few kilometers of the tour on the familiar route. (The Eisenweg is not yet fully signposted as a cycle route.) You can then take a refreshing dip in the forest pool.
