The tour starts at the Räumichtmühle bus stop. From there, follow the road towards Bad Schandau for about 250 meters. Following the Malerweg markings, the steep ascent through the Mühlschlüchte begins on the right. There is a refuge at a fork in the path, which is ideal for a short rest.
From here, the trail runs along a ridge towards Großes Pohlshorn. On the way, you have the option of making a detour to the Kleine Pohlshorn, which, however, only offers a limited view. The path branches off to the right onto the Grosses Pohlshorn. Once you reach the top of the 379-metre-high sandstone mesa, you can enjoy an impressive view over the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz. With good eyes, you can also spot the Kleinstein Cave from here. Once back on the main path, the descent takes you down a few steps. About halfway down, leave the Malerweg and turn right onto the unmarked Oberer Hirschewaldweg. This leads around the Pohlshorn and the Zätzschenhorn on the west side. Above the path, you will notice clear areas that have been created by bark beetle infestation of the spruces in recent years, but in the meantime you can see how the forest is generating itself.
The trail finally descends through the Schwarze Schlüchte to the road and reaches the Sturmbauers Eck bus stop, where the hike ends.
