The water educational path begins and ends at a small hiking parking lot directly on the B 283 between Eibenstock and Schönheide.

The water educational path is an approximately 4 km long themed route with two small circular paths on the Eibenstock and Schönheide sides of the reservoir. These two small loops are connected by the dam wall of the Schönheiderhammer preliminary reservoir, which can be crossed. From this impressive intermediate dam wall, you have beautiful views to the right and left over the water surfaces of the main reservoir and the preliminary reservoir. The educational path describes interesting facts about water, forest, and climate on numerous panels. Part of the path leads "over roots and stones" and should therefore be walked with appropriate footwear. The route is also suitable for strollers from Eibenstock, all the way over the preliminary dam to the Schönheide side if you stay on the asphalted section and also take it as the return route.
