The Waldhofweg is a circular route. It passes through parts of the town of Bad Düben and leads towards Authausen along the Tiglitzer Forest through open landscapes. Charming are the natural paths between the fields and the wide view all around.
The starting point is the parking lot on Leipziger Straße. It is located right at the Mulde bridge and in close proximity to the old town. If needed, the car can be parked here all day. For this, use the lower part of the parking lot which allows free parking all day. The rest area in the Naturstamm-Haus offers, besides lockable bike boxes, an inviting shelter or resting place for a small hiking group. Here the long-distance cycle routes meet.
The Torgau route towards Torgau begins here and the hiker follows it through the town of Bad Düben. The view is caught by the St. Nikolai church tower. The tower, rising high above the rooftops of the town, is also a good landmark, visible far into the landscape. After the church, the path turns onto Gartenstraße. When the area of the shopping market is reached, the waymarking of the Waldhofweg becomes visible.
You leave the town on the newly developed path between the fields and soon reach the rest area "An den Lehmkeiten", a small wetland biotope. The view can wander far over the fields, and in summer the song of larks accompanies the hiker. The path now leads along the forest edge of the Tiglitzer Forest up to the clearing of the Waldhof. Here the signposting branches off from the Torgau route and follows the field path, which is richly lined on both sides with herbs and wildflowers. Now the church tower of St. Nikolai appears again, and you head towards it at the next fork in the road, thus reaching the B 183. This is crossed, and you continue walking along garden and weekend properties. Shortly afterwards, you reach the bridge over the Schwarzbach and the marking points the way back towards the town.
Between fields and lush greenery, the striking tall building part of the company Remmers becomes visible and the industrial area "South-East" is reached. The path leads across the tracks of the "Heidebahn" towards the town. Leaving the street, you get to the allotment gardens "Am Schwarzbach" via a broad path between fields and gardens. Over a wooden bridge, the hiker crosses the Schwarzbach a second time during this hike. The "Imperial Post Office" marks the beginning of the lovingly restored old town. With a view of the town hall tower, the route leads past the Paradeplatz to the market. The lovingly restored townhouses, cafes and restaurants with cozy outdoor seating invite you to stop. At the full hour, a look up to the town hall clock surprises. At the bell's chime, two small goats also run against each other. After a few steps, the starting point of the hike is reached again.
