The starting point is the valley of the local community in Erlbach. From the valley, you go uphill to the Dreirainsteine, the former border point between three dioceses. On the short stretch to the shelter at the ridge path, you have three famous long-distance trails right under your feet (Eisenach-Budapest long-distance path, German Unity hiking trail, and Vogtland Panorama Trail®)! At the trail junction in the forest, we descend through the Hüttenbach valley to Zwota.
The path runs along the edge of the forest to the town center of Zwota. Here begins the ascent to Herrenberg. After passing through high forest, the path leads over the steeply descending Knockweg into the Klausenbach valley. After a steep climb, the new residential area "An der Huth" is reached. Back in the forest, the Meisel pond is the next destination. Here the path turns again towards the town. Past the Dürrenbach campsite and the outdoor pool, it goes briefly but steeply on a path to the Klingenthal animal park.
Over the Alberthöhe, where a magnificent panoramic view opens up, the path leads along the mountain ridge towards the "Sparkasse Vogtland Arena". After a worthwhile detour to one of the most modern ski jumping hills in Europe, you reach the Kohlenweg in the Klingenthal district of Brunndöbra. After crossing the federal road B 283 near the former Goldberg inn, the forest road leads to the arboretum. From here it goes uphill, climbing directly to the Mittelberg. Up top, turn left near the sports ground. Pass the former Aschberg ski jump and continue to the Floßgrabenweg. Shortly before Mühlleithen, the Vogtland Panorama Trail® turns right at the Lower Floß pond and after crossing B 283 follows the Hirschleckenweg up to the Aschberg.
