Höckendorf - the village of families Sightseeing tour Höckendorf and surroundings
Stations on the hiking tour:
Station 1 Edle Krone hiking station
Let's start our village walk at the Edle Krone station. This group of houses owes its name to a silver mining pit that was located in the immediate vicinity of the residential buildings. The museum station is a stop on the Saxon Steam Railway Route and home to the Edle Krone e.V. association. It is an ideal starting point for hikes in the direction of the Klingenberg dam, Malter and the Tharandt Forest. The path leads us along the Höckenbach stream in a deeply incised valley to Höckendorf. The scenery is varied and picturesque, nestled between the valleys of the "Rote" and "Wilde" Weißeritz rivers with their Malter and Klingenberg dams, the Tharandt Forest and the ridge region of the Eastern Ore Mountains, a tourist gem has been created here.
Station 2 Market square in Höckendorf
Back in Höckendorf, past the church on the right, built around 1300, we approach the village center. There we find the attractively designed market square surrounded by the hotel and inn "Zum Erbgericht" with its seminar and conference rooms, a small shopping arcade and the local history museum. The hotel and café on the market square invite you to stop and linger. The small half-timbered house right next to the hotel reception is home to the museum of local history, which is lovingly run by the "Kulturring Höckendorf e.V.". An extensive collection of domestic, family and handicraft items provides an interesting insight into village and regional life in times gone by. The filigree work of skilled hands can be admired in the bobbin lace exhibition.
Station 3 Höckendorf animal park
If you follow the Schenkberg from the market square in the direction of Höckendorfer Heide, you will reach the sports field of the Höckendorf soccer club. However, we turn off in the direction of the zoo. There are over 60 animals of various species and breeds on a 4.5 hectare area. See for yourself how comfortable the alpacas, falabellas, nandus, saddleback pigs, black-and-white lowland cattle, zebus, ponies, goats... and fallow deer feel here in the species-appropriate shelters adapted to the landscape, cared for and looked after by the "Tiergartenverein Höckendorfer Heide e.V." zoo association.
Station 4 Stuhlbauer
If we leave Höckendorf heading south, we find a historic craft in the district of Ruppendorf. Right next to the interior decorator Reichelt, chair maker Ingolf Michael and his family pursue this traditional craft. High-quality precision work by hand, using rare chair-making techniques that have been handed down for centuries, ensure the special quality and long service life of the products in the classic and modern style of third-generation chair makers. Afterwards, we recommend a stop at the "Erbgericht" inn in Ruppendorf for home-style Saxon cuisine.
Stop 5 Holiday farm and weaving workshop
Continuing south, we come across the Näcke vacation farm right at the entrance to Beerwalde. In addition to an adventure vacation on the beautiful three-sided farm, you can learn the ancient craft of basket weaving here under expert guidance or make yourself comfortable on the terrace to read or enjoy the sun, romp around the playground or feed the goats and stroke the cats, sit around the campfire in summer and sizzle billet dough or build snow shacks and toboggan in winter. Opposite the vacation farm, the "Rosenhof" guesthouse invites you to stop for a bite to eat.
Station 6 Hahn farm bakery
If we head west from Höckendorf, past the industrial estate and our attractive residential area, we reach the district of Obercunnersdorf. There you will find the upper part of a Theler column, which has been placed on a triangular signpost.
On Dorfstraße in the direction of the Klingenberg dam, in the historic cross vault of the lovingly renovated barn, master baker Egon Hahn offers delicious baked goods made from regional ingredients, and you are welcome to look over the master's shoulder. From there, it is not far to the popular "Waldschänke" restaurant with a magnificent view of the Klingenberg dam.
Other interesting excursion destinations in our Colmnitz district include the Weidegut nature experience farm and the Stracos Erlebniswelt-Erzgebirgische Holzkunst with sales and gastronomic experiences. A detour to the hiking hotel "Neue Höhe", known for its hospitality, rounds off the excursion.
Find out for yourself what you like best in Höckendorf in the municipality of Klingenberg and where the specialties of the Eastern Ore Mountains can be found.
