Experience the uniqueness of the Umgebindehaus construction on your one-hour walk.

Obercunnersdorf, with its more than 250 Umgebinde houses, is one of the most traditional and beautiful places in Upper Lusatia. Lovingly preserved witnesses of the past still tell visitors today about rural life and the development of an architecture that is one of the most important folk building styles in all of Europe. The Umgebindehaus consists of the log room and the half-timbered construction on the upper floor. Granite door frames, artistically latticed house windows, Umgebinde columns, and slate cladding give each house a unique character. Especially appealing are the lush flowering front gardens. The "Schunkelhaus" is one of the most famous houses in the village. Embedded in a varied landscape, Obercunnersdorf invites its guests to active explorations beyond the village boundaries. Various hiking trails lead to the nearby Kottmar, 583 m high, promising charming views of the Zittau Mountains.
