Mining educational trail directly through the historic mining landscape of Eibenstock (part of the UNESCO World Heritage in the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region); partly over narrow paths; complemented by an approximately 4 km long circular route around the Gerstenberg (this is suitable for strollers) with magnificent views of the dam and the Eibenstock reservoir

"Glück auf!" is the greeting that connects eight centuries of Erzgebirge cultural history. It was probably first documented worldwide in 1575 in Eibenstock, when Hanns Zobold was granted a mine called "uffn Glueckauf".

Around Eibenstock, mainly tin was mined, and one of the formerly most important mining areas, "die Grün", was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2019 along with 21 other components in the German and Czech part of the Erzgebirge. The newly created educational trail winds right through the historic mining landscape. Numerous collapsed shafts, old mines, pits, former placer mines, and many other interesting contemporary witnesses, together with informative display boards, bring the era of former mining to life.

The educational trail is recommended with appropriate footwear even for children from 6 years; the longer complementary Gerstenberg circular trail (+ 4 km) is also suitable for families and includes, besides interesting activity stations about mining and forest, rest areas and viewing benches with a view of the dam of the Eibenstock reservoir.
