This is the route through the Paulsdorf Heath
Take the Weißeritz Valley Railway from Freital-Hainsberg to Dippoldiswalde, the starting point of the cycle tour. Our tip: visit the Dippoldiswalde Tanners' Museum. Once you arrive at Dippoldiswalde railroad station, follow the main road to the left on Reichstädter Straße for approx. 1.4 km uphill. Turn right into Berreuther Straße and cycle through Berreuth in the direction of Paulshain. You pass the "Schwarzer Teich" and continue on Berreuther Straße until you reach the K 9013 (Thomas-Münzter-Straße). The district road leads to the Malter dam. Follow this road steeply uphill to a small parking lot.
Cross the K 9013/ Paulshainer Straße and cycle straight ahead through the Paulsdorfer Heide for approx. 1.8 km on the L-path. At Wettinplatz, turn right onto Butterstraße and continue straight ahead. After approx. 700 m, cross the Schenkberg/Kirchweg and ride past the Heidesportplatz. At the Schenkber/Kirchweg junction, take a detour to the Höckendorfer Heide zoo with its picnic area and playground and beautiful view of the village!
Seen enough animals? Continue straight ahead and cross the main road/Borlaser Straße.
Continue on the plateau past the water reservoir (approx. 2.3 km). Follow the hiking trail marked with a red dot to the right in the direction of the wind turbine and continue on the gravel road for approx. 1.4 km until you reach the Somsdorf-Lübau connecting road. At the junction, keep right and take the road to Lübau. After approx. 850 m, turn left onto the village road towards Rabenauer Grund. Cycle to the "Rabenauer Mühle" mill.
Fancy a detour to the Stuhlbauermuseum Rabenau? Follow Bahnhofstraße over the bridge and further into the village and then take a sharp left onto Lindenstraße. After 450 m uphill you will reach the museum.
This is how the tour continues: Before the bridge, follow the hiking trail to the left through the Rabenauer Grund. Follow the route of the Weißeritz Valley Railway and the river Rote Weißeritz for approx. 3.8 km through the wild and romantic Grund, which has inspired painters such as Ludwig Richter.
Tip: Two mountain huts in the Rabenauer Grund invite you to enjoy a cozy picnic.
At the Wander-Pilz, continue over the Rote Weißeritz bridge along the "Weißeritztalbahn" to the Freital - Coßmannsdorf stop. For your onward journey to Freital - Hainsberg. Cycle straight ahead to the level crossing, then turn right to Weißeritzgäßchen (cycle path). At the end of the path at the pedestrian lights, cross the road to the left. Cycle along the cycle lane on Rabenauer Straße to the Tharandter Straße/Dresdner Straße junction and then continue right to Freital-Hainsberg station. You've made it!
