The path leads through the romantically wild Kemnitz valley from the mouth into the Weiße Elster near Pirk to the Kemnitzbach spring near Grobau.

Along the way, the hiker passes some extraordinary and historically significant places in the Vogtland. For example, the motorway bridge – begun in 1935 but only completed in 1995 – the only Vogtland thermal spring near the Neumühle, the Schafsbrücke – a stone arch bridge built specifically for sheep in the mid-17th century – the Kienmühle as well as the village of Ruderitz.
