Easy route with beautiful views to Lauterbach, Niederlauterstein and Zöblitz
From the hiking car park, our route leads us above the castle ruin along the green marker to Rittersberg and further to the windmills above Niederlauterstein, from where we can enjoy wonderful panoramic views. From here, we hike back to the starting point.

From the hiking car park below the castle ruin, we walk uphill and turn onto the hiking trail behind the castle ruin, which initially leads over private property. We follow the path further uphill (green marker) and keep left at the district road towards Rittersberg. After entering the village, we turn right into Kuhweg. At the end of the path, we turn right again along Scheibenweg and turn into Kirchsteig (yellow marker). We walk towards the wind turbines and go downhill past the first windmill, past the rowan tree, to the district road. We follow this on the right-hand side to the S-curve and walk back towards the castle ruin via Schlettenweg.
