Thermalbad Wiesenbad – Schwarzenberg From the Thermal Region via Annaberg-Buchholz to the Pearl of the Ore Mountains
Thermalbad Wiesenbad, Kurpark
Schwarzenberg, train station
The route starts in the Kurpark of Thermalbad Wiesenbad. After a small climb, we reach Mildenau. From there, it continues via Königswalde further below Pöhlberg to Annaberg-Buchholz. The route leads across the old town past St. Anne's Church, Manufactory of Dreams, and the market. Past the Frohnau Hammer with a fully functioning hammer mill from the 17th century, the path goes on to Schlettau. Past the castle, the route continues along the line of the Ore Mountains Scenic Railway to Scheibenberg. From afar, the unique basalt columns "Organ Pipes" and the observation tower can be seen. Along the Emmlerweg, we enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the thousand-meters Keilberg (1,244 m), Fichtelberg (1,215 m), and Auersberg (1,018 m), or also of Raschau-Markersbach with modern and historic bridges as well as the water reservoir "Upper Basin" of the Markersbach pumped storage power station, before reaching Schwarzenberg, the pearl of the Ore Mountains. A visit to the old town with castle, church, and fountain system with Meissen carillon is worthwhile here.
