From Rosenthal over the Grenzplatte to the Hoher Schneeberg

The hike begins in Rosenthal at the "Mühlsteig" stop and follows the marking with the yellow dot from there and then a bit later the line into the Bielatal. Along the way, you pass a small but fine viewpoint, the so-called Großvaterstuhl, which you should not miss.

From Bielatal you continue on the red line over the Wormsbergweg to the viewpoint on the Grenzplatte, making only a short detour to the Bennohöhle at the beginning.

From the Grenzplatte, you then continue on the red line towards the Tyssaer Wände, leaving the path at a right curve to continue straight ahead on a border path towards the Tyssaer Wände.

The border path is marked with a green line and ends at a signpost in the Bohemian Switzerland (Czechia), which points left with a yellow marking towards Ostrov. You can now follow this marking to Ostrov (Eiland) and from there to the Hoher Schneeberg (Děčínský Sneznik). Or before Ostrov, at a junction, continue left straight ahead and then pass not the large Hotel Ostrov, but a small but fine campsite.

From the campsite, you then follow the yellow line firstly to the right up the street in Ostrov and then in a curve to the left into the forest and further out of the valley. From there, it is advisable to follow the red line to the Hoher Schneeberg, as this marking is clearer and more frequent.

Arriving in Schneeberg (Sněžník), you first hike up and over a street onto the Schneeberg before the path then turns right and you are back in nature below the Hoher Schneeberg. From there, you continue following the red line to the Hoher Schneeberg, from which you already have a breathtaking view from the east viewpoint.

On the Hoher Schneeberg, the path continues along the high edge to the observation tower and the cabin before you then follow the green marking back over the street to Schneeberg (Sněžník) - down from the mountain.

Back in Schneeberg, you can now take the hiking bus (more info in the further description) and end the route, or hike right through the town back towards Rosenthal.

If you want to hike back (or must from November to March because no bus runs back then), you initially follow the street and the blue line through the town until it leads back into the forest in a slight right curve just outside the town. From there, you first go on a wide border path and then back over the border into Saxon Switzerland in Germany, where you then first follow the red dot and then a bit later, at the stop "Footpath to Schneeberg", the bike path back to Rosenthal.

Along the way, you also pass the customs houses, where you can also park if you arrive by car, and from there easily find your way back to the starting point of the route - the "Mühlsteig" stop.
