Starting from the Mühlleithen holiday hotel, you walk a few meters along the federal road B283. Shortly before the pass height at 861 m above sea level, a paved path, also marked as a nature trail, leads towards Winselburg. Right at the beginning of the paved section, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the winter sports resort Mühlleithen with its ski slope and wooden-paneled houses. At the former Winselburg nature conservation center, there is a small rest area overlooking a protected arnica meadow. The path continues through the forest past the charcoal kiln and the Große Pinge. A detour into the visitors' mine "Grube Tannenberg" is possible here.
Soon after, you should also plan a visit to the Vogtland-Bohemian Mineral Center before heading to the Schneckenstein viewing rock (856 m). It is the only above-ground topaz rock in the northern hemisphere. You continue walking clockwise past the Schneckenstein settlement and the display heaps. Those who don't shy away from the steep ascent will be rewarded at the top of the heap with a splendid view of the Sparkassen Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal. The arena, opened in 2006, is one of Europe's most modern large ski jump hills. Skirting the Kielfloßgraben parking lot with its popular snack bar, you move on to the raft slide and the pig pond, all part of the historic Vogtland raft canal system. After some undulating terrain, you head straight towards the Muldenberg reservoir and circle it counterclockwise on natural paths. Always with the reservoir on your left, the path reaches the dam, which you cross directly. Nearby are several dining options and a stop of the Vogtlandbahn. Continuing towards Schöneck beside the reservoir, the hiking trail is soon accompanied by the Vogtlandbahn railway tracks. After a few hundred meters, the trail becomes a well-developed path that reaches the Schöneck sawmill after about 4 kilometers. You pass the Mulden source and can take a cozy break at the Meiler snack bar. After a short walk through the forest, you reach the stage destination, the IFA Ferienpark Schöneck. Crossing the railway bridge past the parking lots on the road, you find a Vogtlandbahn stop as well as a hiking and cross-country ski house. In the direction of the hotel, you see the large signpost just a few meters to the left. A detour to the hotel is worthwhile not only for the refreshments but also for the magnificent view.
