The starting point of the hike is the Pumphut figure at the town hall (train station).
You go across the intersection to Mittelstraße, there turn right and walk to the Paul-Fritsche Corner (relief). Once there, you go left - across Saint Barbara Square and past the winery. In front of the inn "Zur Linde" is the first stamp station (stamp box) on the fence.
Then continue past the church. After about 100 m, the Pumphut sign points left (green line) and you walk uphill over field and meadow paths to the forest edge. There is a rest hut from where you can enjoy the view over Wilthen. Then it goes uphill to Mönchswalder Berg (477 m) with a mountain inn and viewing tower. Here is the second stamp station.
From the renovated tower, enjoy the view over the Upper Lusatian Highlands, Jeschken Mountain to Bautzen and Hoyerswerda.
From here you continue along the ridge path (blue dot). Then descend to the left (rocky, steep descent) to the hunter’s house. You can also take the road as a more comfortable variant. Now you have reached the third stamp station.
Now go uphill to the right, past the shelter "Stern", the Devil’s Pulpit (466m) and the shelter "Bautzen View". You pass the spring house, which is a protected monument, and reach the inn "Beautiful View", which lives up to its name. Here is the fourth stamp station.
After a short, somewhat steep descent, the Pumphut sign points left towards Neu-Arnsdorf. Coming out of the forest, follow the road about 100 m to the left. Then turn right onto the hiking parking lot. Now follows the ascent to the Jeschkenblick. Enjoy the wonderful view of the highest mountains of the Upper Lusatian Highlands, the Lausche (793 m) and to the Czech Republic to the Jeschken (774 m). From Jeschkenblick it is possible to shorten the route by hiking downhill via Galgenberg back to the starting point.
Further uphill to Großer Picho (499 m) with the mountain inn "Picho Baude". Here is the fifth stamp station. A wonderful view of Bautzen is available 50 m further. Now you go back a short distance, past the dice wall and downhill towards Tautewalde. On the way, there is also the Pumphut binoculars to admire and try out.
Arriving in the village, walk about 100 m to the right along the street. At the country idyll hotel "Erbgericht Tautewalde" you receive the sixth stamp in your Pumphut hiking card. Then continue walking over the parking lot of the country hotel. After the railway tracks, keep right. After about 100 m, go left along the forest path.
You follow the marking of the Pumphut path, cross a small wooden bridge and hike uphill into the forest area. There is a Natura Trail circular route in this nature reserve. You pass an abandoned quarry.
Now the seventh and penultimate stamp station (stamp box) is not far. It is located at the "Three Beeches" on Dahrener Berg.
From here go to the "Weifa Height" (504 m) past the "Schurigbaude". Follow the Pumphut signs on the forest path as well as the "shortcut" to the NaturFreundehaus "Sonnenblick". There is the eighth and last stamp station (stamp box).
To return to the starting point, walk down the street (green line) by the hiking hut.
You reach the Pumphut at the town hall (train station) again.
All participating inns invite you to rest with typical Pumphut dishes and drinks.
Of course, you can also do the hike in the other direction or in sections.
