In around 90 minutes, the planetary hiking trail leads through our solar system as a long-distance hike (not a circular trail) and impressively conveys the dimensions of our cosmic home.

The section between Ehrenfriedersdorf and Drebach clearly shows sizes and distances on a scale of 1 : 1 billion:

The sun appears as a sphere with a diameter of 1.40 m, while the dwarf planet Pluto is only 0.3 cm in diameter. All the planets are positioned true to scale and convey a realistic picture of the vastness of space.

The varied route opens up wide views of the Greifenstein region and the ridge of the Ore Mountains. You can start at the sun in Ehrenfriedersdorf or at Pluto at the Zeiss Planetarium in Drebach.

Marking: Planetary hiking trail (white-green-white)
