The route takes you along the romantic Zschopau valley to the Kellerlochfelsen. It continues to the Drebacher Höhe with great views, past the Zeiss Planetarium and over other beautiful viewpoints to Scharfenstein Castle.

The hike starts at Scharfenstein station. You walk upstream through the romantic Zschopau valley to Hopfgarten, up to the Kellerlochfelsen and down to Floßplatz via the Alpine Trail. After crossing the Zschopau, the Erzgebirgsbahn, and the B101, it goes uphill again over Holzstraße to Drebach. The path passes the Zeiss Planetarium with a planet hiking trail and a geology teaching path as well as later the Großer Teich. When making detours to Steinberg and Heideberg – with rest opportunities and views of Augustusburg Castle and Scharfenstein Castle – you enjoy the wide-ranging view up to the Ore Mountain ridge. The path continues to Affenstein with picturesque views over the Zschopau valley. You pass under the Erzgebirgsbahn and hike again over a bridge across the Zschopau and further upstream. On the Zschopau valley hiking trail it goes past Scharfenstein Castle back to the starting point.
