Osterburg route

The starting point is the train station in Wünschendorf, location for the route board and the signpost (green cycle signs).

We follow the signage towards Weida - turn right and continue to the Mildenfurth Monastery. Below the monastery, we reach the continuing path, later as a meadow path along the Weida and straight ahead to the B 175.

At the post office in Weida turn left to the market, continue towards Osterburg.

Pass right by the village Gräfenbrück. We pass through the flat village and reach Steinsdorf. In the village, we turn left towards Loitsch.

We cross the railway crossing at the station - it goes steeply uphill to Hohenleuben. At the village entrance, keep right, reach the church and market. Further right, left, right, we turn into a chestnut avenue leading to the Reichenfels castle ruins. Before that, watch for the turnoff to the station! Downhill to the left to Hohenleuben station - crossing the railway at the uncontrolled crossing.

Pass through a small forest area to the fork at the half-timbered house - turnoff Brückla/Dörtendorf. Continue left to soon reach Brückla - signage to the left through the village - crossing the main road and straight ahead to Mehla - from there signage to Langenwetzendorf - left onto the main road - at the bridge in Langenwetzendorf turnoff to Hainsberg - in the village turn left, later keep left again - we reach Hain - at the junction the sign shows the way left to Kauern, then left onto a field path straight to Hohenölsen into the village.

At the junction, we pass through the industrial area, reach the village Teichwitz, which we pass through. At the junction we reach a road leading directly to Weida. In the valley floor, turn left onto the main road - immediately after the next intersection turn right and go under the B92 up to the old Veitsberger street. The high path goes to Cronschwitz, ascent onto the country road to the left. Turn right into the village up to the Elster, over the Elster bridge back to the starting point in Wünschendorf.
