Monasteries, castles, and the impressive Mildenstein Castle shape the river section of the Mulde, popular with paddlers, between Leisnig and Grimma.
The 27 km long water route on the Mulde from Leisnig to Grimma is one of the most popular paddling routes for the whole family. The route starts on the Freiberger Mulde, with a view of the beautiful Mildenstein Castle. Without annoying portage, you can paddle all the way to Grimma.
The Freiberger Mulde has a lot to offer: small rapids and gravel bars (observe nature conservation) alternate with calmly flowing water. The Podelwitz water castle is a resting place for water hikers, cyclists, car and motorcycle travelers. There is a choice of gastronomy or snack.
In Sermuth, the Freiberger and Zwickauer Mulde merge into the united Mulde. Various water birds can be observed, accompanying you on the river all the way to Grimma.
Towards the end of the paddling route, you pass the ferry to Höfgen, with the ship mill to the right and the Nimbschen monastery to the left. On the last 3 km, paddlers meet the ships of the Mulde shipping, which always have the right of way!
