The circular hike follows the Köhlerweg around Sosa and offers wonderful views of the charcoal burner village.
To this day, one of the oldest craftsmanship techniques of mankind can be experienced up close in Sosa. The circular hike on the Köhlerweg around Sosa passes along historic charcoal kiln sites and offers wonderful panoramic views of the idyllic charcoal burner village. Along the way, you can also watch the last professional charcoal burner of the Ore Mountains at his sooty craft over his shoulder. Near the large parking lot at the reservoir is the former quarry for the rubble stones of the dam wall of the Sosa reservoir from the years 1949-1952, where a charcoal burner site was later also located and where a demonstration charcoal burner site is currently being created.
Impressive is also a visit to the dam wall of the Sosa reservoir, from where there is an imposing view over the water all the way to the Auersberg or deep into the wild romantic rock valley of the Höllengrund.
