At the starting point of the bike route in the Silver Town Freiberg, visit St. Mary's Cathedral (at the Untermarkt), the mineral exhibition terra mineralia in Freudenstein Castle, or the silver mine Reiche Zeche. Towards Halsbrücke, leave Freiberg, turn right to Tuttendorf, follow the narrow path left behind the railway tracks along the Mulde to Halsbrücke and accompany the Mulde on quiet side roads to Großschirma (district Rothenfurth).
Tour A for loaded cyclists (red route): 400 m after crossing the Mulde in Rothenfurth, turn right at the junction "Agricultural Cooperative Großschirma“, then after 500 m turn left and continue to Großvoigtsberg. There, after about 400 m on the main road, turn left towards Kleinvoigtsberg, where the Mulde Cycle Route signs start (continuing towards Obergruna).
Tour B for sporty cyclists (from Rothenfurth to Kleinvoigtsberg – not shown on the map): At the entrance of Großschirma, sporty cyclists follow the path on the right of the Mulde, which becomes forest and meadow paths in beautiful nature. At a wooden bridge begins the nature reserve "Grabentour". In Hohentanne, use the "Muldenweg" along the Mulde. In Kleinvoigtsberg, turn left up into the village where the Mulde Cycle Route signs start on the main road. Mining installations from long-past times line the path, e.g. in Obergruna.
Tour A and Tour B meet again in Kleinvoigtsberg. From there, follow the Mulde Cycle Route signs to Obergruna and at the end of the path, after about 9 km, cross the main road S 195 at Zollhaus (junction Siebenlehn/Hirschfeld) and follow the Mulde on the left bank for 11 km. Past a factory site and later under a huge viaduct, you reach Nossen with its castle and the ruins of Altzella Monastery.
