This hiking route through the Saxon Burgenland is exceptionally romantic. The path leads through forests, along streams, over beautiful forest and meadow trails. Nestled in the valley of the castles lies Rochlitz, whose castle and castle church proudly overlook the town.

Behind Mittweida the landscape becomes a bit hillier. Along small field paths and village streets, there are some churches to visit in the small towns before you can already see the towers of the castle and the city church of Rochlitz from a distance. This place has special significance for the Reformation due to the work of Duchess Elisabeth of Saxony, who introduced the Reformation in her domain from 1537. But also Johann Mathesius, a student of Luther and his first biographer, had his roots in this town.
