The Lutherweg leads the hiker here through the southern Leipzig Neuseenland, a reclaimed former open-pit mining area with many lakes and an interesting history. Every year, numerous tourists from Germany and abroad visit this area, where you can relax while hiking, cycling, or enjoying water sports.

The path is easy to walk because it runs on cycle paths and on paved trails. Between various lakes, the path leads to Neukieritzsch, where the Luther monument on the town square of the municipality recalls the former Zöllsdorf estate. Katharina von Bora managed this estate and produced food for the large household in Wittenberg. Luther had gifted her the estate in 1541, and it later became her widow's residence.
