The landscape through which this beautiful tour leads is characterized by wooded areas, floodplains and the hilly landscape of the foothills of the Ore Mountains. There are numerous pottery workshops along the way.
From the Schlossberg in Wolkenburg, you descend into the valley along the Muldental hiking trail, always following the river. The trail runs for long stretches through lush green floodplains and offers romantic views of small villages. Sturdy footwear is required here, as the route takes you along forest paths and across meadows. The destination of the tour is the pottery town of Waldenburg in the valley of the Zwickauer Mulde. The Lords of Schönburg, who owned the town of Waldenburg, promoted the Reformation in their territories after 1542. In doing so, they maintained their independence from the Wettins.
