This stage offers the hiker, in addition to the sights of the city of Leipzig, peaceful walking paths through river floodplains, forest areas, and small villages. Eilenburg, with its mountain church and the castle hill located in the Mulde river floodplain landscape, is considered a Mulde city with a green heart.
The route through the north of Leipzig passes through several parks and is therefore very scenic. Part of the route here runs together with the Luther Trail and the Ecumenical Pilgrimage Trail. So you can follow both trail markings. Beyond Leipzig, the path continues over river floodplains and through small villages to the city of Eilenburg. Luther stayed several times in Eilenburg between 1518 and 1545. His route also led him through Eilenburg for the disputation in Leipzig in 1519 and for the introduction of the Reformation in 1539.
