The state-recognized recreational resort Jößnitz is located five kilometers north of the city center of Plauen in a charming hilly landscape of Vogtland. Jößnitz connects the Vogtland mill district with the region around the Pöhl reservoir.
The starting point of the hiking trail is located at the parking lot below the Jößnitz Castle. This is a locally significant monument, clearly visible from all directions. To be precise, it is the hunter's lodge of the former castle, which had to be demolished in 1860 after a major fire.
The path then passes the riding facility of the Jößnitz Riding and Driving Club e.V., and on to the oldest building in Jößnitz in its external form - the half-timbered house at Grüne Gasse 4. It was built in the first half of the 17th century and is a protected monument. Today, you can enjoy the special atmosphere here at the Pension "Vogtland mit Herz," in rustic rooms and the large garden – pure country holiday.
The trail then passes the Jößnitz village square, the center of the old village. There is a quiet area with a fountain here.
Across Röttiser Straße, you reach the Intarsia Studio Sigmar Zahn, a gallery and showcase workshop (visits by prior arrangement).
From the circular path around the Warthübel, there is a wonderful view over the Vogtland hilly landscape further along. The Julius-Mosen Tower at the Pöhl reservoir, the Kuhberg near Netzschkau, and the Syrau windmill are visible in the distance on the way around the Warthübel. On clear days, the Auersberg in the Ore Mountains can be seen on the horizon.
Following the path, you reach the church area in the old village via Lange Gasse.
The church, a cycle route church, with some remarkable treasures, such as a convex panel painting from the workshop of Lucas Cranach the Elder, can be visited from Easter until October (Reformation Day).
Over the narrow Kirchgasse, the route continues to Bahnhofstraße, the bridge over the Kaltenbach, and then to Kauschwitzer Weg 4.
Here stands one of the oldest houses in the village, the half-timbered house "Ilse". It is a place of encounter with courses, small arts, readings, and living room music.
The circuit is completed with a walk to the Jößnitz castle park. Right at the entrance is an information board about artists who lived in the village or drew inspiration from Jößnitz in their works.
In the park itself, besides the pond with fountain and the Kneipp wading basin, there is a shelter, a children's playground, and good opportunities for relaxation after an eventful hike.
The park path leads back to the parking lot at the castle. Here the farm shop at Schlossgut invites you to take a break with fresh and organically produced goods.
