From the town hall square with the fountain, walk towards the church and then turn left into Friedhofstraße into the forest, along the Deutschlandschacht spoil tip. At a shelter in the forest, a short steep ascent begins on the right to the summit with observation tower. Experience a panoramic view to the upper Erzgebirge and to the Leipzig region. On the summit plateau stands the "Wunderhorn", a futuristic seating place heated year-round by spoil tip warmth. On the descent on a paved driveway, you pass through several vegetation zones (explanation on the stone lecterns) and the spoil tip forest upside down. At the foot of the spoil tip, on the right, you pass the engine house of the former coal shaft on Deutschlandschachtstraße. At its end, you cross the railway crossing of the Citybahn and the Bahnhofstraße and follow the footpath along the track bed. A large staircase leads the way into the Citizens and Family Park (former state garden show grounds). After a bridge, you see on the right the former signal box of the sorting mountain, before which a small path heads down to the right, over which you will later leave the park again. Now you have the opportunity to stroll and enjoy the 15-hectare landscape park with playgrounds, nature and geology trails, as well as to use the wellness offers (graduation tower, Kneipp facility, barefoot path). You leave the park via the small path described earlier. This leads to the foot of the bridge, past the pithead with the groundwater measuring point (the find spot of the Oelsnitz brine). Then a short time over the tunnel path and right to Hedwigschachtstraße. Here left and at the next crossroads right onto Badstraße. Follow this to the stone pedestrian bridge crossing the street at the Vocational School Center, a huge castle-like school complex. Via a side path on the left you reach the bridge (information boards there) and follow the footpath to the next spoil tip. On a meadow path to the left you circle this spoil tip clockwise and continue straight via Obere Windberggasse into Robert-Schumann-Straße. Here you stand in the middle of a restored residential quarter where architectural elements of heritage protection and Art Deco have been wonderfully preserved. At the intersection with Franz-Schubert-Straße, follow this southward to the town center. You cross August-Bebel-Straße and follow Lerchen- and Mühlweg until you reach a traffic light intersection with the "Grüsser". We cross the street at the light and on the opposite side get to know the mine goat and the "space-time diagram", both artworks bringing us special insights into the details of mining in the region. Opposite is the “Heinrich-Hartmann-Haus” (art gallery). We briefly follow Alten Staatsstraße to the left and immediately right again into Mittelgasse. At the end of this half-timbered street, turn left and immediately right again, pass through the former manor and arrive at the imposing town hall, which we circle slightly uphill (south) through the town hall park and reach our starting point past the Albert-Funk-Schacht-Straße and the town hall.
