The village in the UNESCO biosphere reserve Oberlausitzer Heide- und Teichlandschaft

Guttau / Wartha, located in the middle of the biosphere reserve Oberlausitzer Heide- und Teichlandschaft, is an ideal starting point for beautiful bike routes through nature. Along the nature trail, through fields, meadows, and forests, you reach the Museum Margarethenhütte in Großdubrau. From here, you cycle on paved field paths to Milkel Castle, then continue on the Sea Eagle or Frog bike route to reach the holiday oasis, the Heidebistro, and the Spreehof in Göbeln. Besides the scenic beauty, there are many opportunities to stop, linger, and observe nature.
Due to possible patchy network coverage, it is recommended to download the route in advance and then use it offline if necessary.
In adverse weather conditions, forests should not be entered (danger of falling branches).

Autobahn 4 to the Bautzen-East exit. B 156 towards Weißwasser, turn right near Bautzen reservoir in the direction of Niesky and follow the main road via Malschwitz to Guttau. Turn left there (signposted) and drive via Lömischau to Wartha.
Free parking spaces on the premises of the biosphere reserve administration.
In addition, there are parking facilities for several buses on the premises of the biosphere reserve administration.
The HOUSE OF A THOUSAND PONDS is accessible by line 106 (Bautzen-Kleinsaubernitz-Niesky) via the stops Guttau/Wartha (50 m on foot) and Guttau/Anbau with a 2.7 km hike along the nature experience trail Guttauer Ponds. The nearest train station is Bautzen station.
