The cultural route takes us on this stage through the idyllic Weida valley along the western border of the medieval Vogtland.
Fortified village churches from medieval times can be found, for example, in Schömberg, Grochwitz, Steinsdorf, and Schüptitz.
Now we proceed to the Reichenfels castle ruins. Picturesquely embedded in the landscape, it has attracted hikers, cyclists, and history enthusiasts for 75 years. One of Germany’s oldest history clubs, the Vogtland Antiquities Research Association based in Hohenleuben, has its seat here.
Via Niederpöllnitz, you reach the lovingly restored round castle Oberpöllnitz. In Triptis and Auma, you can discover traces of medieval history along the former town fortifications.
The destination of this stage is the former residential town of Schleiz.
