A historical cycling route from Plauen via Weischlitz to Oelsnitz along the Elster Cycle Path following the traces of the Vögte zu Plauen.
Cycle along the Weiße Elster in Vogtland and embark on a search for traces of the Vögte zu Plauen, who once had their seat of power here. Visit Plauen's oldest building, the town church of St. Johannis (consecrated in 1122). Take a look directly below the town church at the medieval convent building from 1244. It was the former seat of the German Order in Vogtland. Cycle along the mill ditch to the 500-year-old, lovingly preserved historic weaver houses. Continue to the church in Straßberg, which once belonged to the Vögte zu Straßberg. In Kürbitz, take a break to admire the ensemble of the manor house and Salvatorkirche. Along the Weiße Elster - in picturesque landscape - after 2 km you reach the small town of Weischlitz, where you can make a short stop at the Old Manor - today the town hall. The route leads past the former manor house Taltitz (today a youth hostel) in Pirk to Oelsnitz.
