This hike takes you to the beginnings of the Vögte territorial lordship: from the oldest church of the Vogtland on the Veitsberg to Weida to the ancestral castle of the Vögte.

You start at the covered wooden bridge in Wünschendorf. Along the White Elster, the Vögte once established their territorial lordship on behalf of the German Emperor. Follow the Lutherweg up to the Veitsberg. Opposite the parish office stands the oldest church of the Vogtland. Its origins date back to the year 974. The hike continues on the Lutherweg to the Mildenfurth Monastery.

Along the Weida River, the path finally leads you into the town of Weida – the cradle of the Vogtland. Here the Vögte of Weida built their seat of power on the Osterburg. Many churches and former monasteries in the historic town area bear witness to the long history.
