City walk through Dippoldiswalde, route length approx. 3 km, duration approx. 1 h (without museum visits)
Arriving at Dippoldiswalde station you start your hike here. On Reichstädter Straße keep right and walk towards Freiberger Platz (Radio Göhler). Here turn right onto Freiberger Straße. At the end of the street keep left and follow Alte Altenberger Straße towards the town centre. Below the secondary school turn left into Schulgässchen. Arriving at Karl-Marx-Platz, continue right on Bahnhofstraße. After the Leiteritz bakery, continue along Schuhgasse until you reach Cafe Achat, here you can admire the Shoe Fountain. At Herrengasse turn right, pass the city library until the post column. Keep left onto Brauhofstraße. The next street is Große Wassergasse; turn left here and continue straight ahead, past the water feature, until you reach the historic market square with its four wells and the Lion Fountain. Here is also the town hall with Renaissance gable, figures of the patron saints Mary with child Jesus and Laurentius, and the Maltitz coat of arms. Between the town hall and pharmacy follow Dippoldgasse. At its end is the legendary figure of Dippold behind glass. You enter Kirchplatz with votive column, parsonage, fountain room, the city church St. Marien and Laurentius (with organ by organ builder Stöckel) and the castle where the Museum of medieval mining in the Ore Mountains is located. Through the castle passage with former city wall, you reach Bahnhofstraße again. Keep right and walk straight ahead, crossing Weißeritzstraße, Freiberger Platz and follow Reichstädter Straße straight ahead. On the right side is the multi-generation park Polypark.
