The hiking trail connects the town of Oelsnitz/Vogtl. with the remarkable Burgstein ruins in Krebes and the village of Weischlitz over a distance of about 30 km.
The starting point of the hike is the train station in Oelsnitz/Vogtl. with Voigtsberg Castle +St. Jacobi City Church as sights. Via Lauterbach, the green-marked Burgsteinweg leads into the extensive forests by the Untertriebelbach. At Schönbrunn, we meet the VPW and finally reach the forest area around the Hohen Kulm.
In Dröda, we encounter the Feilebach, behind which towers the mighty dam of the drinking water Dröda reservoir. On the following ascent to Großzöbern, we see the impressive motorway bridge of the A 72 in Pirk.
After a break at the farm shop or the church of Großzöbern, we walk towards Krebes. Behind the village, there are wonderful views to the south onto the Dröda reservoir, the village of Berglas, and soon also the St. Clara Chapel Heinersgrün.
By walking under the motorway A 72, we enter the legendary Burgstein area. The path over the Plattenberg to the ruins of the former pilgrimage churches at Burgstein is a highlight of the route, which finally leads over Ruderitz and Geilsdorf to Weischlitz.
Train travelers can also end the hike at the Pirk train station, from which - as well as from Weischlitz - the Vogtlandbahn returns to Oelsnitz.
