The hiking trail is a circular route with partially the same outbound and return path to the station.
We start the hike at Schöneck station. We leave the station grounds in the direction of RHG, immediately change sides of the street (later there is no curb ramp) and turn right. After a few meters, we turn into Waldstraße. We leave this at the edge of the forest heading towards Meilerhütte. From now on, the surface is a sand-sealed gravel cover. Once the parking lot at Meilerhütte is reached, we follow the TK6 signage. After about 2 km, we reach the biggest ascent. Push assistance is necessary here. If the ascent is too steep for hikers, there is the option to turn left towards Meilerhütte. The shortcut has also been tested. After 3 km, we are back at the Meilerhütte parking lot and take the same return route towards the station.
Another option is to start the hike at the parking garage or IFA Ferienpark stop of the Vogtlandbahn. After leaving the parking garage, it is necessary to immediately change sides of the street. Later, curb ramps are missing. After a few meters, the TK6 turns left. We do not follow this signage. For wheelchair users, it is better to follow the footpath to the roundabout, cross the street there, pass the bus stop, and then turn right into the forest. We are now back on the TK6. After about 350 meters, the path is identical to the route from the station.
