The barefoot path in the district of Mittelherwigsdorf was already established in 1997 by the municipal building yard. Since then, it has become an attraction for both local and visiting hikers. In 2013, a relocation was necessary, and the barefoot path now begins and ends at the sports center in Mittelherwigsdorf. Special excitement is promised by the twice crossing of the Mandau river, which is not mandatory but certainly a refreshing change. After the hike, there is the possibility to refresh yourself at the sports center, and the barbecue area there is also gladly used. For this, you should coordinate with the operator of the restaurant or the sports club in advance....

The approximately 1 km long barefoot path starts and ends at the sports center. At up to 15 stations, the feet must repeatedly adjust to various ground conditions. Pointed pebbles, brushwood, or deep mud constantly challenge the feet anew. In other places, more the sense of balance is required. The rule applies: what looks easy is not necessarily easy. At two points, crossing the Mandau river is planned, which can either be a welcome refreshment or also take some overcoming – depending on the water temperature or water level. (extendable with the nature trail "Schülerbusch", about 2 km)
