The circular hike leads through the Ostrau district with its magnificent wooden villas to Hohe Liebe. The route starts and ends at the marketplace in Bad Schandau.
The route starts at the Elbe car park in Bad Schandau. We follow the Elbe promenade upstream and turn left behind the Toskana Therme towards the "passenger elevator". The historic elevator overcomes 50 meters of height in a very short time. From the elevator plateau, there is a nice view of Bad Schandau and the Elbe valley.
We follow the elevator path moderately uphill to the Bad Schandau district of Ostrau. Along the Ostrauer Ring, we admire the magnificent wooden villas and follow the local road to the junction to Bad Schandau. On the footpath along Falkensteinstraße, we follow the "Red Line" marking to the inn Zum Falkenstein. Here our hiking trail branches off to the left and first leads as a comfortable, slightly ascending path to the junction "Ascent to Hohe Liebe". Here the ascent becomes a bit steeper, and after about 15 minutes we reach the junction to the viewpoint and the mountaineers' memorial, which commemorates the fallen mountaineers in the First World War. From here, we have a beautiful view of the Affensteine with the distinctive Bloßstock and the rock formations of the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz.
After descending from the rock peak, we turn left and again follow the "Red Line" marking downhill to the next larger junction. We keep right and hike to the Wenzelsweg, where we turn right again. We follow the Wenzelsweg for a short distance until the Elbleitenweg branches off to the left. On the right, we can glimpse the Falkenstein through the treetops. After a short steep ascent, we turn right into Schießgrund. From here, we have an open view of Falkenstein. In Schießgrund, it goes down comfortable forest steps into the "Zahnsgrund".
We keep left, follow the road for a short distance. Behind the inn Schrammsteinbaude, a path to the right with the sign "Ostrau car park" leads uphill through Klüftelweg. Initially steep with steps, later on a flat path until we reach the Ostrau locality again.
The return walk to Bad Schandau follows the same path, which we already know from the beginning of our hike.
