Auersberg round

This route categorized as medium difficulty leads around the 1,018 m high Auersberg. We start in Johanngeorgenstadt (Neustadt) and cycle through the district of Steinbach into the idyllic Sosa, surrounded by an extensive forest area. Along the way, a detour to the Auersberg summit (with observation tower), the viewpoint rock at Seydewitz view near Sosa (view of the reservoir and dam), as well as to the Blauenthal Waterfall is worthwhile. Afterwards, you reach Eibenstock with its Art Nouveau town hall and its town church built in the 18th century. Then it continues towards the mountain pass "Grenztor" through the wild romantic valley of the "Große Bockau". After reaching the Ore Mountains ridge, the route passes the high moor "Kleiner Kranichsee" back to Johanngeorgenstadt (district Neustadt). On warm days, the natural swimming pool Schwefelbach in Johanngeorgenstadt offers a welcome refreshment.
