Hike around the Eibenstock reservoir with many panoramic views of the reservoir and the surrounding heights

After leaving the town of Eibenstock, the route first follows a short section of a traffic road to the water nature trail and over the Schönheiderhammer fore-dam. The following paved forest road towards Hundshübel offers repeated magnificent views of the fjord-like water arms. In Hundshübel, a detour up to the rest area at Viechzig must be made: the magnificent wide panoramic view is considered one of the most beautiful in the Ore Mountains. Again elevated along the shore or directly through the town (2.5 km shorter), the northernmost fjord arm is circled and the dam at Neidhardtsthal is reached on the Marienweg (informative nature trail). Over this, up to the Gerstenbergrundweg and across the B 283, the hike finally passes the bathing gardens and the observation tower on the Bühl back to Eibenstock.
