The tour leads along the Flöhatalweg trail and the chess hiking trail around Borstendorf, which was once home to the chess industry. A detour to the angel village of Grünhainichen, the birthplace of the famous Wendt & Kühn figurines, is not to be missed. Here, the wonderful Wendt & Kühn world of experience with the famous 9-point angels and flower children figurines beckons. A real insider tip, not only for collectors! The tour offers a view of the Augustusburg hunting lodge.
From Grünhainichen-Borstendorf station, take the Flöhatalweg trail upstream for 5 km to Vogels Brettmühle and turn left onto the forest path.
After about 2 km uphill, you will reach a hut for a picnic and a water treading pool for refreshment. After a rest, continue to the next major fork in the road and turn left to Wettinplatz. There you will meet the king of the chess hiking trail. Follow the path to the right until you cross the main road and continue through the forest to the Steinhübel rest area junction. You can decide whether to continue or take a detour at the hut.
The tour now continues along the signposted chess hiking trail through woods and meadows in the long valley to Borstendorf and the starting point, the railroad station.
