The hiking route begins at the Auma School Observatory, whose dome represents the model of our sun. According to the real size ratios, diabase stones were placed along the route at a scale of 1:500 million, into which stainless steel spheres were glassed as planet models. Information boards about flora and fauna complement this nature trail.

The night sky has fascinated people since ancient times, inspiring their imagination and creating the most beautiful star legends. Copernicus recognized that our Earth is only a planet of our solar system, which, like the other planets, orbits the star "Sun".

The size of the sun, our Earth and the other planets as well as their distance can of course be given in kilometers, but these figures far exceed our imagination. Thus, during night observations and astronomy lessons together with students of the public secondary school "Franz Kolbe" Auma, the idea was born to create a suitable model. Large-scale models embedded in our charming landscape make this actively experienceable on the planet hiking trail between Auma and Zeulenroda.
