With its almost 800-year history, St Thomas Boys Choir is the oldest cultural institution in Leipzig. Famous choirmasters such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Hermann Schein, Johannes Kuhnau and Johann Adam Hiller helped to make the choir world-famous. The heart of the choir's musical work is the sacred music in the services and motets in St Thomas' Church. Oratorios, passions and masses by Bach can also be heard regularly from the choir. They also perform sacred vocal music, madrigals and secular a cappella works from the Renaissance to the present day.
