Proschwitz Castle

At a glance

The Schloss Proschwitz Prinz zur Lippe Winery is Saxony’s oldest privately operated winery and is known for its high-quality wines and diverse cultural program.

Wine has been grown on the slopes of Proschwitz for over 850 years—today with a clear focus on quality rather than high yields. The “Schloss Proschwitz” and “Kloster Heilig Kreuz” single-vineyard sites produce fruity, elegant white and red wines: white wines with exceptional freshness and minerality, and red wines that are full-bodied and aged in barriques. The wine shop invites you to explore the selection at your leisure.

Throughout the year, the winery offers a variety of events centered around sparkling wine, wine, and spirits. Guided vineyard walks, concerts, readings, exhibitions, dinner concerts, and themed evenings provide diverse insights into the world of Proschwitz wines.

Near the parking lot, a wildlife enclosure invites families to linger, while the castle gardens are perfect for strolls. The castle itself is open only during events. Not far from there, the Proschwitz Vineyard Cottage offers a fascinating view of Meissen’s Albrechtsburg Castle and the Elbe Valley.
