By train:
From outside, you can reach the zoo most easily by S-Bahn, regional or long-distance train. The main train station is very close by: from here you can take tram number 12 or walk about ten minutes. From the surrounding area, you can also get to Leipzig Zoo in a group, for example with the Saxony Ticket (Link opens a new tab) or an MDV-Verbundticket (Link opens a new tab).
By bicycle
The Leipzig Zoo has a good connection to the cycle path network.
Opposite the zoo between the two zoo car parks there are many bicycle racks. You can stow your bicycle helmet or other luggage comfortably at the service point at the entrance. In addition, there is an e-bike battery charging station behind the photo bus at the late exit (own charger is required). Please contact our zoo pilots at the hubs. Pick-up is possible during the zoo’s opening hours.
For long-distance bus:
The buses stop at the long-distance bus terminal on the east side of the main station. From there take tram line 12 or come on foot.
For passenger cars:
Please note the traffic guide to the zoo car park in Parthenstraße 8. Data from route planners and navigation systems are not always up to date! If you are coming from the city centre or from the west, you cannot reach the car park directly via Pfaffendorfer Straße. Please follow the signs on site.
Environmental zone
Important note for all drivers: Leipzig has an environmental zone in which only cars, buses or commercial vehicles with the green badge are allowed to drive.
