Kulturpalast Dresden

At a glance

The Kulturpalast Dresden is an important cultural center in the city center of Dresden. Originally opened in 1969, it is one of the most striking modernist buildings in the city and was reopened in April 2017 following extensive renovation. Today, the building serves as a multifunctional center for culture, music, education and encounters.

The new concert hall forms the heart of the Kulturpalast and is home to the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. With its excellent acoustics and clear, modern architecture, it is considered the musical center of the city and attracts international guests as well as Dresden's own top ensembles. Especially at Christmas time, the building offers an atmospheric view of the traditional Striezelmarkt on the Altmarkt.

The city's central library is located around the concert hall. It combines knowledge, education and recreation in an open, contemporary library landscape and shapes the inviting character of the building. Large windows and bright rooms create a pleasant atmosphere in the heart of the old town.

With the nationally renowned cabaret "Die Herkuleskeule", a permanent institution of Dresden's cultural life complements the offer. Spacious foyers connect all areas of the Kulturpalast and invite you to stroll, linger and observe the lively city life.
