Thus, Radebeul is the birthplace of Winnetou und Old Shatterhand, the heroes of his novels. The Karl-May-Museum preserves the legends. Each year in May, thousands of people celebrate their heroes with spectacular shows during the Karl-May-Festivities in the Lößnitzgrund.
