Europe's most beautiful open-air theatre. In front of a spectacular backdrop, Karl May's Indian plays, fairy tales and famous operas are shown among ther plays.
On Europe's most beautiful open-air stage the steep rock faces of the Rathen Wehlgrund form the backdrop for theatre, concert, musical, opera and operetta performances of the Saxon State Theatres Radebeul. From May to September, adventures, romanticism and beautiful voices shape events in the impressive rocky valley basin in the heart of the National Park Saxon Switzerland. Love, cunning and deception are always among the main themes - whether in Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" or in the operetta "The Beggar Student" by Millöcker. Nowhere else is the scene of the wolf's gorge from the "The Freeshooter" more realistic than in this place, which inspired Weber to his great opera. The clatter of hooves and gunshots fill the air of the ground when Winnetou and Old Shatterhand come to life on the oldest Karl May stage. Families experience exciting moments: in a new shape the musical comedy "Honk! - The Ugly Duckling" after Andersen is on the schedule together with the fairytale "The Scarlet Flower" and Humperdinck's fairytale opera "Hansel and Gretel".
