Travel lecture: Off to the East with the bike packed

It all started with a childhood dream. Even back then, Heike Nicklisch wanted to get on her bike and conquer the world. At the age of 52, she set off in June 2014 towards the east, in the direction of the sun. Traveling alone as a woman, with a tent and bike packed, she traversed the Baltic States, Russia, and South Korea. Halfway through after 6 months, she celebrated Christmas Eve with her family in Sri Lanka. Alone and exposed to the elements, she experienced many adventures, felt the warmth of the people, learned to cope with homesickness, and spent the night in South Korea in a particularly hot way. At the end of the journey, it was not the miles traveled that counted, but the many encounters—an adventure of a special kind for a solo traveling woman of mature age. Experiencing life intensively every day and only worrying about trivial matters like food, route, and a place to sleep reduces life to its essentials. It doesn't take much to be happy. Duration: approx. 2-2.5 h + break
