Elsewhere they are called tram or streetcar, but the people of Leipzig lovingly refer to them as Bimmel. With the Bimmel and the S-Bahn in regular service, we explore the city in a small group through leisurely walks. We walk through the city center, visiting the Old Town Hall and the Mädler Passage. Then we continue by S-Bahn to the oldest train station building, the Bavarian Station (Bayrischer Bhf). We take the tram further to the New Town Hall and stroll through the Music Quarter, passing by the Reichsgericht building. The tram then takes us to Augustusplatz, where we see the university buildings and the Gewandhaus. The tour ends centrally at the Nikolaikirche in the Old Town.
