The Peter Church, with its tall tower, can be seen from afar - even though it is located in the middle of a residential area. At the end of the exploratory tour, the truly impressive ascent of the tower awaits - around the clock on the outside. The tower of the Peter Church dominates the southern suburb with its height of 88 meters. The Peter Church was consecrated in 1885 and was the replacement for the old church on the site of the Reichsbank building (now the music school). August Hartel and Constantin Lipsius designed the church building. The Peter Church features elaborate artisanal decorations of sculptural works and colorful stained glass windows. The tour presents the church's history as well as the architecture and restoration work. The ascent of the tower is impressive, taking place via the highest free-standing spiral staircase in Saxony. Passing by the carillon, we reach a height of 51 meters and can walk around the tower's top from the outside.
